This is the first step in the adoption process and is one of the requirements for adopting a child through Sunrise. You only need to attend one of these sessions. During the orientation, information will be provided regarding the requirements for adopting through Sunrise Children's Services. There will be time for questions and answers and the opportunity to explore the adoption options available through Sunrise. This orientation is provided free of charge. Attendees will be under no obligation to continue the adoption process through Sunrise Children's Services.

Prospective Adoptive Parent and Foster to Adopt Preparation Class

Training and preparation classes are a vital part of becoming adoptive parents. This class is a requirement for families adopting through Sunrise Children's Services. There is a non-refundable $600.00 down payment on your home study due prior to the first class meeting. Please be sure that your check has your name, address and phone number as well as a notation to indicate that this is your homestudy downpayment. Reservations are required by the Friday before the class at noon. Call 1-800-456-1386 x433 for more information on this class or to register. Please leave your name and phone number as well as a statement indicating that you wish to take this class.

Directions to Sunrise's Mt. Washington office:

From the Gene Snyder Freeway (I-265) take the Bardstown Road exit south towards Bardstown. It is approximately seven miles to Mt. Washington. Once you enter Mt. Washington, you will go through a traffic signal at State Route 44 (there will be a Walgreens Drug Store on your left). After the traffic signal, the road will narrow to one lane each direction. After the road narrows, at the bottom of the hill, take your first left onto Hope Street. The Ministry Support Building will be the first building on the left.

Directions to Sunrise's Lexington office:

From Louisville: Take I-64 to exit 115. Turn right onto Newtown Pike and go to the third stop light. Turn left at the light. Go a very short distance and turn right (just before you enter the gated community) into the parking lot of the strip mall. Continue to the other end of the parking lot and turn left. The office will be suite 140.
From I-75: Take exit 115 and turn left onto Newtown Pike. Go to the 4th stop light and follow directions above.
