Spring Meadows Children's Home now located in Mt. WashingtonSunrise is making a bold move by relocating its Spring Meadows and Glen Dale children’s homes to smaller, more efficient, self-contained facilities. We are upgrading our facilities to better minister to the needs of the abused and neglected children in our care. These new buildings are much needed and a long time coming since our campuses at Spring Meadows in Louisville and Glen Dale are very worn and outdated.
A new, state-of-the-art facility has been built in Mt. Washington and Spring Meadows moved on April 6th with no interruption in the children’s care. The new Spring Meadows Children’s Home in Bullitt County will be home to up to 20 boys. The new Glen Dale Children’s Home which will be built in Elizabethtown will be home for up to 20 girls at a time. Administrative, sleeping, eating, living, educational and recreational areas will be contained under one roof. The unification of all services under one roof will create other efficiencies by allowing direct care staff and program management to work more closely together. During the last year, we have been conducting the initial quiet phase of this effort to raise $9.5 million. To date, we have secured $2.6 million in pledges and donations towards this goal. Now it is time to canvas the entire state of Kentucky for the remaining pledges towards this worthwhile endeavor. Our planning and preparation for the public phase of our statewide campaign is already underway. Our goal is to raise the remaining portion of our campaign total by the end of the year 2006. If you would like more information on this project or how you can become involved, please contact Karen Richardson, Vice President for Marketing & Advancement, at 1-800-456-1386 or through e-mail. The Eldred Taylor Ministry Support CenterThe new Ministry Support Center, which has been built on the same property as the new Spring Meadows Children's Home, will be completed by mid-June. This new center has replaced the leased office space on Linn Station Road in Louisville and the small office building on the old Spring Meadows campus. All of the support staff for Sunrise are now under one roof which will make operations more efficient and cost effective. Sunrise is recognizing Eldred Taylor’s many years of service by naming the agency’s new Ministry Support Center in his honor. Kentuckians have an opportunity to participate in the Eldred M. Taylor campaign by making a contribution. The goal is to raise $1.5 million to name the new Eldred M. Taylor Ministry Support Center. We have already received a lead gift toward this goal. There are other naming opportunities available as a way for Sunrise to show it’s gratitude for significant contributions during our Capital Campaign. Individuals, families, businesses and other organizations have an opportunity to establish permanent commemoratives. These commemoratives will stand as a strong endorsement of our work and as a permanent recognition of those who have given so generously to support Sunrise . Buy a Brick, Build a Future
