Making a Bequest to Sunrise Children's Services

Many people who believe in the ministry of Sunrise Children's Services have included something in the final distribution of their estates to help the hurting and abused children of Kentucky through our agency.

In this way, their lives continue to have a positive influence long after their deaths. Future generations of young people will benefit from the generosity and compassion of these donors.

Making a gift from one's assets at one's death can be done easily through a will bequest. There are several ways in which to do this:

  • Denote a specific amount, i.e. $1,000, $10,000, etc., to be given to Sunrise Children's Services after the death of the donor.
  • Specify a percentage of assets, such as 10%, to come to Sunrise Children's Services .
  • Indicate that the residue of the assets come to Sunrise Children's Services after all other bequests have been honored.
  • Name Sunrise Children's Services as the contingent beneficiary, meaning that the agency would receive the assets only if all other beneficiaries predeceased you.

What might be the benefits to you to make a bequest to Sunrise Children's Services ?

  • The bequest reduces the size of your estate for federal estate tax purposes. Although gifts during one's lifetime are deductible only up to a certain percentage of the donor's adjusted gross income, gifts by will are deductible without limitation.
  • You will have the joy of knowing that your concern for our children will continue to be addressed through your gift long after your death.
