Sunrise Children's Home does home studies for open, closed, domestic and international adoptions for residents of the state of Kentucky.
A home study is a process. It is composed of:
- information about you and your immediate family
- your history
- your families
- your home
- your life experiences
- your experience with children
- your education
- your marital status
- your relationships
It is a word picture of who you are and is compiled from your written information, interviews, references, criminal checks and other documents. It requires joint and individual interviews with you and your husband or wife and children.
Other components of a home study include:
- attending an orientation and preparation class
- submitting written materials and documents
- home visits
All of this information put together comprises a home study.
Sunrise offers free adoption orientations at least once per quarter. The orientation will introduce you to the adoption process and allow you to learn more about the qualifications and requirements.
