Sunrise Children's Services to children and families

Sunrise's Privacy Practices

Sunrise Children's Services helps children and families through residential and non-residential services. The agency's central office is located in Mount Washington (7 seven miles south of Louisville).

Services include:

  • Adoption Services - Sunrise provides homestudy assistance to couples seeking domestic and international adoptions and help for birth parents wishing to place their child with an adoptive family.
  • Crossroads Treatment Center, Elizabethtown - The Crossroads Treatment Center is a long-term residential care facility that provides special therapeutic care for up to 12 boys. The boys come from backgrounds of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse or neglect. They participate in intensive group work to enable them to begin overcoming their pasts. The facility is a ranch-style home located on 10 acres in a farming area.
  • Cornerstone Counseling - Professional Christian counseling for families and individuals is provided through Cornerstone Counseling with offices located across Kentucky.
  • Dixon Center, Dixon - The Dixon Center provides care for up to 12 girls. Most of the girls in care have experienced abuse, neglect, placement disruption, school problems, or other family problems.
  • Foster Care - Children and teens who can benefit most from a smaller family group setting are assisted through Sunrise's foster care program. Some Sunrise foster families may also provide care for infants in transition to adoptive homes.
  • Genesis Center, Mayfield - The Genesis Center is a residential care facility which provides care for up to 15 girls. The girls primarily come from backgrounds of physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse or neglect. Trained staff provide supervision, counseling and guidance to help the girl overcome her past and begin looking with confidence to the future.
  • Glen Dale Center, Glendale - Located in Elizabethtown, Glen Dale provides residential care for up to 20 teenage girls in a secure facility.
  • Morehead Center, Morehead - The Morehead Center provides care for up to 12 girls. Most of the youth served have experienced abuse, neglect, placement disruption, or school problems.
  • Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities (PRTFs) -
  • Spring Meadows Center, Mt. Washington - Spring Meadows provides residential care for up to 18 teenage boys whose lives have been disrupted by abuse, neglect, or family crisis. They are cared for in a family-like environment in which they live in groups with staff who are trained to help the young men learn to develop positive relationships, deal with life's hurts, and learn independent life skills.
  • The Cumberland Adventure Program , Bronston - The Cumberland Adventure Program makes use of rigorous camping experiences to help young men who have severe emotional and behavioral problems. As the boys learn to survive in Kentucky's wilderness areas, they learn teamwork, build self-esteem, and develop a respect for other people and God's world. The program serves up to 56 teenage boys.
  • Youth Support Center, London - The Youth Support Center works with teenagers recently discharged from residential care or the juvenile justice system. It is also a preventive program for youth whose environment or behavior makes them vulnerable for problems that could bring about removal from their homes.
