Spring Meadows Facility image

Program Overview

Spring Meadows Children's Home provides residential care for up to 20 adolescent boys. The new state-of-the-art facility is designed to address the present and future needs of boys who are best served in a residential setting. The 18,000 square foot building provides sleeping, eating, living, educational and recreational quarters all under one roof; as well as outdoor recreation on the 10 acre campus.

Spring Meadows is a service of Sunrise Children's Services which provides residential, counseling, adoption, foster care, and independent living services. Sunrise is licensed by the Kentucky Cabinet Health and Family Services and has provided services to families since 1869.

The Boys In Care

Spring Meadows serves boys, ages 11 to 17, who come from backgrounds of abuse or neglect. They often have an attitude of defeat and hopelessness when they arrive. While in care, the boys attend school, learn to make appropriate life decisions and work with adults to plan for the future.

How The Boys Are Helped

Children are cared for in a structured environment where they can begin to experience healing. Caring staff help the boys learn to develop positive relationships, independent life skills, and spiritual values. The staff help youth by serving as valuable role models, mentors, and caring teachers of practical skills for day-to-day living. They also receive counseling and special educational help as needed.

At Spring Meadows, children learn to share living responsibilities, receive special help with personal issues and problems, and learn the values of work and education. This caring environment helps young people learn to overcome difficult pasts.

Spring Meadows' residents attend school on campus. Spring Meadows' location near Louisville provides resources for education, counseling, recreation and religious experiences. All of these resources are used to help children heal from past abuse and neglect and move confidently toward their futures.
