Help secure appropriate placements for undocumented children who have been detained by immigration officials. Most of these children have migrated to the U.S. from Central America, Haiti, China and India; many have experienced traumatic events en route and are considered vulnerable. They may have been smuggled into the U.S. and are often the victims of human trafficking, sexual abuse or labor exploitation.
The children are placed in homes of sponsors or other family members legally residing in the U.S. Through a partnership with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Department of Migration and Refugee Services, Sunrise provides home inspections and follow-up visits to verify the safety of homes where children are placed.
