Selfless young girl gives generously to Sunrise Woodlawn, Morehead clients
“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” – Proverbs 22:6
Clearly, this message from Proverbs was not lost on the parents of Maci Carlisle, a 10-year-old member at First Baptist Church of Richmond, Kentucky. First Baptist recently hosted clients from Sunrise’s Woodlawn facility. Maci sang during the service and, afterward, helped host a special pizza party for the boys. Maci was touched when one of the Sunrise clients complimented her on her singing, and she decided she wanted to do something to help the boys. She gave it some thought, and chose to “share” her birthday with them.
Rather than asking for birthday presents, Maci requested that her friends and classmates purchase school and art supplies and other items for the Woodlawn boys, as well as girls from the Morehead facility. On Sunday, Jan. 8, Maci, her family and friends got together for cake and other tasty treats at a Richmond-area gymnastics facility. The party invitees came through in a big way – 115 items were purchased for the Sunrise clients, while others gave cash, which Maci will use to shop for further items to be donated to Woodlawn and Morehead.
