As a supporter of Sunrise Children’s Services, you know Kentucky’s children and families are in a state of crisis. From the opioid epidemic that’s ripping families apart, to children in search of a loving family because their home is not safe, the need has never been greater for us all to take action and give lifesaving support and hope to so many.
At Sunrise, we are involved in so many stories each month like this one: A young sibling group of three, Kayla, Eric, and Matthew, had suffered years of severe physical and sexual abuse at the hands of biological family members – people they thought they could trust. Their emotional scars from this pain ran deep and the children would require intense therapy from Sunrise to pick up the pieces of their lives after being removed from that broken home. Loving parents through Sunrise’s foster care program stepped in to care for all three of them and ensure they were kept together. The foster parents received therapy through Sunrise for the benefit of helping the children heal. After spending two years in foster care, the children were adopted earlier this year by their foster parents and are on the path to living a happy childhood free from harm and filled with unconditional love.
The wide range of services we offer – from foster care, to outpatient therapy for families, to residential care, to independent living, – are made possible with your help.
Here’s how your support and prayers have been put to work through our ministry:
• Since September 2016, 56 young people in our care have made a profession of faith, 34 were baptized and 18 have rededicated their lives. We give God all the glory as these children are welcomed into His Kingdom.
• Through our VentureON program, 22 individuals are currently receiving support through Sunrise as they transition into successful adulthood after aging out of the foster care system.
• We’ll soon celebrate nearly 400 adoptions since we first opened our foster-to-adopt program in 2006. Through Sunrise’s foster-to-adopt program, adoptions are made at no charge.
• Last year, we introduced a new program so that home studies for adoptive families could be facilitated in a more timely and cost efficient way.
We thank you for opening your heart and giving back so Sunrise can be an invaluable resource to Kentucky’s children and families who are in a desperate state of crisis.
Will you continue with us in the fight to transform the lives of more kids like Kayla, Eric, and Matthew, and send a gift for as much as you can? Any amount you can give now will help us make a lasting impact on our most precious resources – children and families – this holiday season and all year long.
Sunrise Children’s Services is counting on your generosity again and we can’t do it without your help.
Kind regards and warm wishes,
