Sunrise supporters and volunteers at BBQ on the River in Paducah

What a weekend in Paducah!

For the past three years, Sunrise Children’s Services has participated in BBQ on the River, and this year was one for the books! Thanks to an incredible group of volunteers and a generous community, Sunrise raised a record $25,000 for the children in our care.

And to think, much of that came from selling fried Oreos for $1 and Twinkies for $3! That's a lot of Oreos and Twinkies! But even more encouraging were the many people who stopped by just to make a donation and support the ministry of Sunrise.

A huge thank you goes to Dr. Jeff Lawrence and everyone at 93.3 WKYQ for helping spread the word and encouraging the community to come out and support Sunrise.

And a very special thank you to Traci Lawrence, who has become such a wonderful advocate and supporter of Sunrise Children's Services. Traci took on the tremendous task of organizing the event, coordinating volunteers and making sure everything came together.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the many churches, board members, ministry partners, Sunrise staff and volunteers who gave their time to help. Working BBQ on the River isn't easy! It's long hours, lots of preparation and plenty of hard work. Yet year after year, these wonderful people continue to show up, roll up their sleeves and serve.

And to the Paducah community, thank you! Whether it was purchasing a fried Oreo, enjoying a Twinkie or simply stopping by to make a donation, every bit of support helped make this a record year.

Best of all, 100% of the proceeds will go directly toward helping the children served by Sunrise.

Sunrise is blessed to have so many wonderful friends and supporters who continue to come alongside this ministry to provide care and hope for hurting families and children through Christ-centered ministries.

$25,000! What an incredible blessing.
